Didn't do much in Dingwall, used the hotel as a base, the main street very run down,if you don't mind driving beautiful scenery everywhere, especially in a trip to Ullapool,it was a very cold and frosty day, stunning,we ate lunch out wherever we went, and ate in the hotel at night,no complaints all round.

Small friendly rural town. Good access to Black Isle, Inverness and stop over if traveling North/South. Decent range of local shops. Of particular note Batty’s cafe, Caley bar, Thai cafe and butchers

Dingwall is a very pleasant wee town in a beautiful part of the country and we found the locals to be very welcoming. It's on the rail route north from Inverness so is easy to get to if you don't want to drive. There a good selection of eating places and Inverness is only 12 miles away if you want a bit more to do.

Quaint little town in the southern highlands, just north of Inverness and away from the stresses of the city traffic… Dingwall provides the best of both worlds, with plenty to do in the local area, easy access to the surrounding areas and peaceful country vibes.

This Inn is the worst 😫 place we have ever stayed in.
Receptionist from Hell and breakfast even dog will not touch, no cereal bowls very very cheap. Better to get Tesco or McDonald's for £5 for your own good.
Toilet 🚻 was broken shower 🚿 and no one to fix it 😢. Only have good wall painting and decorations with bad odour or smells as other people said (something or someone died or rotten for months???).
Don't believe anything nowadays with fake reviews by Booking.com Admin.
They will be hanging up the phone when complaining about issues 😒...
Everything is perfect about this hotel. The staff is very very nice and kind. The interior is very tasteful and stylish. It's more than clean; immaculate is a better word. The beds are good. For the breakfast you could choose what you wanted so there's no food being wasted as often is the case with a buffet. The food, the beer, the service, everything is perfect. With fine weather you can sit on the terrace next to the lovely flowery garden. And it's great to realise that you're sleeping in a hotel with 240 year history.
The bothy was at an excellent location, close to Dingwall and Inverness but far enough to enjoy the remoteness of Scotland. It was a very comfortable house with everything I needed and since I had quite some tough hikes before this stay it was great to have the luxury if this bothy. I spent 3 days here, one with a nice 7 mile walk around the bothy, the second day was spent in Inverness and the third day I had to drive for 1 hour to climb the An Teallach ridge. So much to do and everything close by.. loved it!
From when we first arrived and Gillian met us at our car with her two friendly dogs to help us with our bags to when she served us a delicious and hearty Scottish breakfast the following morning we could tell Gillian went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay in her guest house in Dingwall. The room was spacious, clean and comfy as well. The location was great - we walked to dinner and checked out the small but charming town of Dingwall. We are glad we stayed at Garfield Guesthouse.
Alison was a lovely host at this comfortable, quiet B&B. She recommended a delicious Indian restaurant a short walk away and provided a lovely full breakfast. The B&B itself is a lovely home and the updated ensuite shower was great. This B&B (and Dingwall itself) was very quiet, which was nice for relaxing, but only a short 20-30 minute drive from Inverness and Loch Ness giving us plenty to do.
We had decided to break our rail journey at Dingwall which is not a town I recommend visiting though this hotel was in a very pleasant location oOut of town on the edge of the countryside. The exterior of the hotel did look like a small castle. The foyer of the hotel appropriately matched the exterior image of an old Scottish Castle. The dining room was pleasant.
Located a short walk from the train station, the hotel is easy to find. Staff were attentive and lovely. My booking had breakfast included and it was delicious with friendly service.
The rooms were slightly cold but I did visit during the middle of winter. Had a lovely view of the church opposite and the location was right along the high street of town.
Pretty much everything. It was so obvious that Gill does this as a labour of love. One of the best holiday stays I have ever had. Cannot be faulted. We were looking for a place in Inverness and only stayed in Dingwall because Inverness was booked out. Very glad it was in the end. Just be mindful of The Mallard !
It's cheap! And was available for us last minute when we needed to stay near Inverness for the night. The location is great. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance and not a far drive from Inverness. Breakfast was continental, but good!
Super location, at the end of the main street, and a few minutes walk to the railway station. Spacious and well equipped flat which was ideal for a few nights stay. Excellent bathroom and kitchen / lounge. Dingwall is a lovely town.
Great flat near the centre of Dingwall - but nice and quiet. Friendly host, well-equipped kitchen, good sized rooms, all mod cons, everything spotlessly clean. Heating easy to control. Handy location for the station and buses.
Most things were fine. There was free parking at the hotel entrance. There is a Tesco next door where you could have breakfast/coffee. There is a private bathroom in every room, and the room was clean.
Hotel is being refurbed and dining room was looking great , friendly staff and good selection at breakfast . Its a good value for money hotel in a good location with good car parking.
The view out of one of our three rooms was stupendous! The bar tender provided exceptional service. The common areas were inviting when there was a fire going.
